Networking & Employment Transition Support (NETS)

If the New Year begins with uncertainty in your current position or if you have been laid-off, the NETS Ministry has the perfect solution for you! The NETS Ministry will be hosting a career transition workshop designed to help people who are contemplating or are in job transition. The workshop offers six separate training modules that cover the current aspects, trends, and tips associated with looking for and landing your next position. The workshop will be presented by Ron Feher who co- founded the Saddleback Church Career Coaching & Counseling Ministry 14 years ago and provides career coaching and train- ing to churches, communities, and businesses.

The modules will be presented in Meeting Rooms 1 & 2 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Aliso Viejo from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm on the following dates:

Thursday – 1.22.15 – Establishing a Transition Plan – This module deals with the realities of looking for a job in this day and age and in these economic times. It includes the realities of a job search, the steps for creating a transition plan, and coordinat- ing your plan with God’s plan.

Thursday– 1.29.15 – Marketing Tools – This module identifies the tools you need to be part of your transition plan. It includes discussions on positioning statements, creating a value proposition and personal brand, elevator speeches, resumes, cover letters, biographies, special reports, marketing portfolios, business cards, LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.

Thursday – 2.5.15 – Networking – This module discusses the realities and value of networking yourself into your next position. It includes building your network, venues for networking, and online networking.

Thursday – 2.12.15 – Resume Writing – This module identifies information pertaining to how to write and submit your resume for potential positions. It includes information about Applicant Tracking Systems, resume formats, position and accomplishment statements, and resume mistakes to avoid.

Thursday – 2.19.15 – Interviewing – This module discusses information about phone, face-to-face and panel interviews. It in- cludes interview turn-offs, interview mistakes, building rapport with the interviewer, using the SPIN module, interviewing styles, things to do and things to avoid.

Thursday – 2.26.15 – Salary Negotiations – This module identifies the artful negotiation steps to getting yourself a better starting salary and benefits. It includes information about the offer and counter offer, basic negotiation rules and guidelines, negotia- ble items, and when to walk away.
