Youth Ministry exists because of our wonderful volunteers. Adult volunteers are always needed in Youth Ministry. There are various levels of opportunities and commitments. If you hear God calling you to work with youth then contact the Youth Minister. The first step in volunteering is to contact Vini to assess the best fit for your gifts and talents.

All volunteers are required to do a background check and fingerprint as you will be working with youth.

JAMS (Middle School)

Level 1: JAMS Event Chaperone: Chaperones are very important for JAMS ministry. A chaperone monitors JAMS nights to ensure safety of youth as it pertains to safe environment and personal welfare during the event. Chaperones arrive at the beginning of the event and leave at the end of the event ensuring all parents have picked up their youth. Commitment is 545pm to 815pm on JAMS nights. Chaperones are asked to attend the JAMS retreat weekend in February.

Level 2: Support Team: Support team is the background support needed to make an event or activity flow. Duties can be Kitchen coordinator, Kitchen supervisor for an event, Nurse/Doctor/EMT for events, parent event coordinator, driver for events, material coordinator, set up and take down of events.

Level 3: Youth Leader Adult: Work directly with the Youth Minister to assist in mentoring, training, and supporting the Youth Leaders. Assist in planning JAMS nights. Attend all youth leader training days, prep days, JAMS events, and retreats.

Haven and Confirmation (High School)

Level 1: Haven Event Chaperone: Monitor a Haven night to ensure safety of youth as it pertains to safe environment and personal welfare during the event. Chaperones arrive at the beginning of the event and leave at the end of the event ensuring all youth have departed safely. Commitment 6pm to 915pm once a month usually 2 Saturday.

Level 2: Support Team: Support team is the background support needed to make an event or activity flow. Duties can be Kitchen Coordinator, Kitchen supervisor for an event, Nurse/Doctor/EMT for events, Service Hours Coordinator, parent event coordinator, driver for events, material coordinator, set up and take down of events, Environment Coordinator, Caterer for special events, Attendance Coordinator/Tracker.

Level 3: Adult Core Team for Haven or Confirmation: The commitment to this level is critical as each adult core team member is responsible for a small group of youth that rely on the adult’s preparation and attendance.

Adult Haven Leader

Participate in the Haven night with the youth and lead small group discussions. Leaders meet for a prep meeting once a month to prepare for the Haven night which occurs once a month from 6pm to 9pm usually every 2 Saturday. Leaders help lead the youth night and a small discussion group. Also, leaders help prepare and lead the High School Retreat weekend in November.

Confirmation Catechist: Teach and lead a small group for Confirmation. Confirmation catechists meet once a month with the Youth Minister to prepare the lesson for confirmation which is held one hour each month either before Haven at 4pm or on a Sunday at 6pm. Confirmation catechists plan, prepare, teach, and direct the Confirmation retreat usually held in February. Confirmation catechists are available for Catechist Basic Certification through the Diocese of Orange on-site or online programs.
